Company History
Zakłady Tłuszczowe “Bielmar” Sp. z o.o. is a Polish company owned by its current and former employees, rapeseed suppliers and its product distributors. The company has existed since 1994, while the plant began its operations in 1945. The headquarters of the company are located inBielsko-Biała, together with our rapeseed warehouses, a modern oil production plant, a refinery, a margarine production plant and a logistics base. In Baborowo, Opolskie Voivodeship, the company has an additional silo base for storing rapeseed.
During the partitions, the Bizner’s Oil Mill is established in Kamienica. The plant burnt down in 1917. Rebuilt in late 1920 and early 1921, it was leased by Paweł Hoffman and the Stern brothers. The production of margarines and refined oil is launched.
In Bielsko-Biała, S. Arzt sets up a competitive factory for the production of fats.
During the German occupation Both plants suffer no major damage. The staff manages to save some of the machinery from being taken away or destroyed by the Germans. The oil mill in Kamienica is closed down.
The two factories are merged and modernisation work begins.
BZPT and Szopienickie Zakłady Przemysłu Tłuszczowego are merged into a company operating under the name Śląskie Zakłady Przemysłu Tłuszczowego with its seat in Katowice-Szopienice.
The production of palma-type margarine according to a ministerial standard is launched. Before this, the production of milk margarine and standard margarine starts in 1959 and 1969 respectively.
An independent and autonomous state enterprise is established under the name Bielskie Zakłady Przemysłu Tłuszczowego.
BZPT launches Poland's first modern margarine production line
The company is renamed “Bielmar”. The logo designed by Kazimierz Gibała is put on the products and Bielska margarine is awarded the Healthy Food Medal.
The packaging of the Palma margarine from Bielsko-Biała features an image of a likeable little Negro. For the designer, Maria Rymkowska, this image had a positive association with the country of origin of palm oil and a popular children's poem by Julian Tuwim, “Bambo the little Negro”. Consumers are starting to call the margarine from the Bielsko-Biała plant a “Palm with a Negro”. The author of the image of the palm designed also the signature image of bread on Śniadaniowa.
Workers, farmers and wholesalers register a limited liability company. A major contribution to its foundation and development was made by Stanisław Babiński, Managing Director, Zdzisław Then, Economics and Purchasing Director, Jan Daniel, Technical Director, and Augustyn Kubiczek, Chief Accountant.
An employee-owned company takes over the assets of BZPT Bielmar. On 1 April, Zakłady Tłuszczowe “Bielmar” Sp. z o.o. commences operations.
Zakłady Tłuszczowe Bielmar
In 2005, the oil pressing technology was modified by introducing deep drawing presses, eliminating the chemical extraction step. The use of the new technology does not require the use of organic solvents, thus contributing to their elimination from products and the environment. Production without chemical extraction is launched.
Zakłady Tłuszczowe of Bielsko-Biała introduces a new logo.
At the moment, the company employs nearly 350 people, its annual turnover reaching PLN 250 million.

at the 9th National Healthy Food Fair for outstanding achievements in margarine production technology.
Golden Malwa'97
for the Śniadaniowa margarine in a Polish national consumer ranking.
Quality Cup 2000
for the Beskidzki oil, 1st place among rapeseed oils awarded by the Institute of Meat and Fat Industries in Warsaw.
2004 Market Leader
for the Śniadaniowa and Miss Kromeczki margarines during the INTERRES International Fair in Rzeszów
Cup of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development
for the Palma margarine at the ECOLIFE 2005 Fair in Tarnów.
Grand Prize and Quality Cup 2008
awarded to Z.T. “Bielmar” by the Institute of Meat and Fat Industries in Warsaw
Consumer Laurel
in the Discovery of the Year 2012 category for the Śniadaniowa Klasyczna margarine.

awarded for the twelfth time to Z.T. “Bielmar”.
